Staley Styles is a Transgender fashion model, photographer and creative director based in Columbus, Ohio who’s transformation from male to female is greatly criticized and shamed by society’s outdated political and religious values. She is an L.G.B.T.Q. advocate and mentor for young fashion industry students and professionals including designer Riley Raines and models Chase Lyons and Ari Aftab.
Modern Material creator, Mackenzie Mitchell, found herself admiring Staley’s talent, kindness and strength to overcome obstacles she will never experience herself. The pair becomes bonded by their pure creative genius as Mackenzie learns what it’s like to have Staley’s body be judged by its cover. Unless they are at a gay bar in Columbus or New York or getting their nails done at a Salon on Melrose Ave, the whispering and laughing begins to take it’s toll on Mackenzie too. She can’t even begin to imagine the damage it must to her self esteem but instead Staley is the human spirit transforming Mackenzie’s quiet, self conscious being into star on the runway in Columbus who develops a thirst for attention and success.
