December 4, 1998: Steph...The Problem With Society
ACTUAL JOURNAL ENTRY BY ANNIE TO "STEPHANIE"
December 4, 1998:
Ugg! I think I'm gonna die. Pardon me if I fall asleep while I'm writing this. I've been up for the last 32 hours and I think I'm gonna die. An you know what, we ran out of time in class, so my Art Proff barely even looked at my project, so I don't even know what he thought of it! And he didn't even collect them! All that work for nuttin! I think I'm gonna sleep till next year. Thank god I don't have to work! I'd be sleeping in the plush! But I'd probably get woken up by Carolyn sayin - "Did you find someplace good?" She's a nut.
Well I'm glad you like this gift and think it's a goooood ideeeeeeeeeea!! I really think it will be good for us to let things out instead of hiding them and hoping things, oops I think I lost my train of thought already! Ahhh, I told you I'd go delirious! So never mind my nonsense! Thank God most of my classes are over! Waahoo! Anyways I'm trying to get serious but my mind won't let me! I need a shower and about 48 hours of sleep!
Ok, let's try this again. Steff, you mean so much more to me than you probably know. I absolutely hate it when things are bad between us. And it hurts knowing you want to leave Ohio State because of me. I know that we can make things work, we just need to do it. If you have to leave for your career, I'll understand. But always keep in mind that all it takes is a little determination to reach your goals. Just don't give up because if you stop trying you'll probably always wonder just that....what you gave up. Nobody will ever know what they were missing until they give it up. We always look at things in life in the negative perspective. We always wonder what we can do to make our lives better, simply because we were unhappy. But that is the problem with our society. We always want more. More money, more clothes, new cars, nice furniture, etc.
But material things are not all we want more of. We want more love, more attention, more friends, more family and so much more. This society is so wrapped up in the idea that the more you have, the better you are. On the outside, that's what we want, but on the inside we really begin to realize that less is more. The less you have of something, the more it becomes apparent of how much that something means until it is taken away. We mustn't take the things in life for granted. We must cherish what we have and hold it dear to our hearts. Now I don't know if I was going to make a point or not but I just want to let you know that I will be here to help you with whatever you need. If you move out that might be a little hard but I'm here for you. Well I'm about to kill myself cause I'm so tired!
I'll get back to ya! Take care!
