Aimee Skyler just escaped from her small town of Bloomington, Ohio when she moved to Columbus to attend the Ohio State University. Looking forward to starting a new life with her boyfriend, Scott Whitman, Aimee sees a new future of independence ahead of her. After a very distraught adolescence filled with rebellion and competition, she is ready to leave the past behind.
She just moved into an apartment with her stepmom's neice, Stephanie Kane, and three other college girls but life isn't going to be full of college parties and boys. It's about to be filled with with cops and paramedics and college career spent answering the Distress Call. Aimee is about to learn what it's like to help a friend in need as she struggles to find the right words to say. Stephanie's last words to Aimee were a simple, Goodbye, I can't do this anymore. You don't need me. None of you do.
Stephanie wasn't the only friend Aimee knew who attempted or committed suicide. Her co-worker's daughter Madison took her life at age 16 after her boyfriend broke up with her in a YouTube video seen by her whole school. Her business partner's son Zach took his life at age 18 when he went off to college and didn't fit into a school full of jocks. Her husband's best friend took his life leaving behind his wife, 12 and 9 year old daughters, and her huband and father have also been in the depths of despair when they needed Aimee's emotional support.
Aimee knew she had found her calling in life as an advocate for Suicide prevention soon after Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington took their lives. The social stigma needed to be addressed. But then the Devil lured her back in to the music industry and told her "All of that shit is depressing. Get rid of it." Aimee listened but she was desperately searching for the forces of Good to come save her from the Evil.
